Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
